McCoy Door Lock Mechanism - Left or Right
- save
Determine if you need Left or Right lock when lock is mounted on the door:
The "Teeth" of the door Lock is split. Two teeth to one side, the middle tooth to the other side. Double teeth pointing to Left = Left hand mechanism. Double teeth pointing to Right = Right hand mechanism.
Identify your lock:
Place the lock in front of you with the hole for the handle against you, see picture.
If your lock got the single teeth up and double teeth down, it is the LEFT version.
If your lock got the single teeth down and double teeth up, it is the RIGHT version.
For the McCoy door locks we do NOT have the lock spring. If the spring inside the mechanism is broken the whole lock has to be changed.
If you have a Hallberg-Rassy where the toilet door opens into the bathroom, here is some important information for you.
There is a spring for the doorknob mounted in the door lock. It is normally placed on the correct side for the more common solution, where the door opens outwards from the bathroom.
Before you install the lock, you need to remove the doorknob spring and mount it on the other side of the lock.
